BONUS: Take the planet

It’s Thanksgiving, Oz 9 style, which means the only thing anyone has to be grateful for is surviving it.

If you’ve ever wondered about the origin of stuffing, well, we have a theory for you. Also, were you aware you speak fluent Klep? It’s true. And you didn’t even have to practice. Take THAT, Duolingo.

TRANSCRIPT

You’ve been listening to:

Bonnie Brantley as Jessie, Donna, and Daisy
Eric Perry as Joe and Jay
Shannon Perry as Madeline
Kevin Hall as Greg
Sarah Golding as Mrs Sheffield
Kyle Jones is your Narrator 2
And Chris Nadolny Gourley is your Narrator.

Our music is composed and performed by John Faley; Lucas Elliott creates our artwork. Sarah Golding is our dialogue editor. Normally, the super-talented Chrisi Talyn Saje does the sound design, but this time you’re stuck with Shannon Perry, who also penned this mess.

Oz 9 is a proud member of the Fable and Folly Network. Be sure to check out all the great shows at fableandfolly.com.

See you next time, space monkeys. Happiest of holiday seasons, if and however you celebrate.

BONUS: Meet the Characters

Honestly, there’s just nothing good to be gained from listening to this. It’s a bunch of people old enough to know better being very silly while affecting various accents (with varying degrees of success). Good ahead and listen if you want to, but please wear headphones and do something redemptive with your hands, like making food for unhoused people or picking your nose. We’ll all feel better about it.

Much thanks to Sarah Golding, to whom all credit (and frankly, blame) belongs.

Oz 9’s Beloved Narrator, Richard Nadolny

If you’re the kind of person who reads show notes, you know how flippant we generally tend to be. And no one in this cast was more flippant and irreverent than Richard, our Narrator.

He loved this show, loved being a part of it, loved hearing that you loved him, and no one laughed harder at our goofy escapades than he did. He was basically the owner of our Discord channel, jumping in to keep the fun and silly going, giving updates on my writing “process,” engaging in pun battles, and sharing the wit and warmth that made him my favorite person to talk to.

There’s so much to say about him. Too much. Simply put: he is missed.

Please protect your mental health, and if you are at all concerned about yourself or someone else, seek professional help. You matter.

BONUS: Chat with Creator Jonathan Pezza

I know, I know, I skip a lot of bonus episodes too, but srsly, give this one a listen. Not only is Jonathan Pezza smarter than the entire crew of the Oz 9 concurrently and consecutively (yes, low bar, but still), he’s also got really fun things to tell us about. Hear the interview, then for goodness’ sake, stick around and hear his full-cast, immersive audio adaptation of Kurt Vonnegut’s “Tomorrow and Tomorrow and Tomorrow.”

And while I’m assigning homework, after listening, check out the links below and get ye over to Kickstarter to learn more about the Season 3 project, coming soon!!

TRANSCRIPT OF INTERVIEW

Thanks as ever to John Faley for the gorgeous music!

BONUS : That slice of Joe Pye-Weed pie

I tell ya, you turn your back for, like, three months, and someone just shoulders their way in there and takes over your ship, your characters… sheeesh.

ANYWAY, if you’re familiar with A Ninth World Journal or Deconstructive Criticism, you’ve already enjoyed the work of our own Dr. Theo Bromae, better known as David S. Dear.

In this bonus episode, he gives us a glimpse of life behind the curtain. And in front of the toilet door COME ON ALREADY SOME OF US HAD RICE KUDZPIES AT SNACKTIME.

TRANSCRIPT

You’ve been listening to:

Tim Sherburn as Colin
Bonnie Brantley as Jessie
Shannon Perry as Madeline
Kevin Hall as Greg
David S. Dear as himself
Kyle Jones as Narrator 2 and
Chris Nadolny Gourley as your Narrator

This bonus episode of Oz-9 was written by David S. Dear.

Our music is by John Faley; our artwork is by Lucas Elliott. Typically, Sarah Golding is our dialog editor, and Oliver Morris is our sound designer, but you have Shannon Perry to blame for those this time.

BONUS: Discussing Oz 9

Welcome to the Audiotorium. It’s Discussing Oz 9, with Narrator and Narrator 2, Pluto, and other assorted folks.

If you’re not familiar with the Discussing Network and their stable of shows, Discussing Who, Discussing Trek, and Discussing Comics, you really could be listening to that instead of this. (http://www.discussingnetwork.com/)

But in the style of Discussing Stuff, it’s a review of Oz 9’s season 4, so if you haven’t listened to all of season 4, well, spoilers, sweetie.

BONUS: Enough with the toad orgy, Two

If you struggled through the classically complex and layered story of the last four seasons, you’re not alone. It was, as Mrs Sheffield has it, “more twisty-turny than my graduate teaching assistant’s insides after my AP Honours’ Intestinal Inversion lecture and practicuum.”

So Dr. Charles Tucket, who you may remember from another hiatus episode, The Oz 8000 Biosphere: Portrait of a Refuge, has been unthawed once again to provide some much-needed and hopefully not teeth-grittingly dull exposition and explanation.

Good luck. Take notes.

TRANSCRIPT

You’ve been listening to:

Kyle Jones as the tour guide and Narrator Two.
Chris Nadolny Gourley as your Narrator,
and David S Dear as Dr. Charlie Tucket.

Our music is by John Faley; our artwork by Lucas Elliott. Sarah Golding is the dialogue editor, and Oliver Morris is our sound designer. Oz 9 is written by Shannon Perry.

BONUS: Episode X – 1

Written by Lee Shackleford of the awesome sci-fi audio drama Relativity, this bonus episode exposes you to yet more of Oz 9 that you were hoping to avoid.

Is it possible an advanced alien species is coming aboard the ship? Well, yeah, I mean — they’re in space. But, are they friendly? This is the Oz 9. What are the chances?

HUGE thanks to Lee Shackleford, who wrote AND produced this episode despite all our mostly unintentional efforts to thwart him. BTW, Lee is an amazing voice and stage actor, writer, and human being, so if you want to get in contact, find him at shacklefordfreelance.com.

BONUS: Mission: *FWIP*!

A rift in time and space causes four members of the Oz 9 crew to get pulled off the space ship (bringing the median IQ up a significant number of notches) and swapped with four members of the EMF (aaaaaaaaaaand we’re back to where we were, IQ-wise).

This is part two of a special two-part crossover with the frankly hilarious secret agent comedy, Mission: Rejected. If you haven’t heard part one yet, stop, put us on pause, go out, listen to part 1 on the Mission: Rejected feed, come back, take us off pause, because from this moment forward….

I’d say “spoilers,” but let’s face it… it’s mostly nonsense.

Be sure to listen to the fantastic comedy being dished up at Mission: Rejected (https://missionrejected.simplecast.com/). You won’t regret it. Much.
